Description
The Shiseido Summer Internship program is a paid, full time 9-week program for college rising Juniors or Seniors starting June 3rd through August 2nd. We are committed to your professional development so during your time here, you can expect to participate in meaningful projects, networking, professional development workshops, speaker series, volunteer activities, and you will also have the opportunity to connect with your global peers across the world!
The Analytical team is responsible for partnering with various cross-functional teams such as but not limited to Formulation, Regulatory, Safety, and Process Development to address relevant business needs (active ingredient understanding, formula troubleshooting, OTC regulations, raw material quality control, research, and more). Each employee is expected to work independently and as part of a team to oversee a safe and orderly laboratory environment.
This position will be fully onsite, with limited opportunities for hybrid work

Responsibilities:
- Intern will be responsible for leading an independent research project alongside management and partnering with one of our cross-functional teams to build their acumen in analytical chemistry while gaining an overview of the personal care industry and the role of support partners in the product development lifecycle
- Learn the fundamentals of cosmetic formulation, product efficacy, and process development
- Work with the Analytical Chemistry team to conduct research in at least one of the following core business areas: skincare, color cosmetics, clean chemistry, and/or process development
- Utilize analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, ICP, or FTIR to gather data and meet project timelines under minimal supervision, including data interpretation
- Create a summary presentation to be shared with senior leadership at the conclusion of the internship
Requirements:
- Must be a rising Junior or Senior in college working towards a bachelor's degree
- Must be actively enrolled in matriculating college degree program in chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, or associated programs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and be highly organized
- Maintain professionalism while interacting with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Energetic, self-motivated, results oriented
- Flexible and able to function in a fast-paced, safety-first work environment
- Must be able to commute to designated workplace and work the required weekly schedule associated with department
- Must comply with laboratory safety standards and best practices
- Have a passion for cosmetics, beauty industry and consistently keeping up-to-date with trends
