What is the Guest Substitute Teacher Program?
The Guest Substitute Teacher Program is offered annually, and consists of a six (6) to eight (8) week training and employment program for individuals who are not certified as teachers by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, to become day-to-day substitute classroom teachers in our district. This program will kick off in January 2024 with an open house session on January 17th and interviews to take place in mid to late January.
What do Guest Substitute Teachers do?
Guest Substitute Teachers serve as day-to-day Substitute Teachers and paraprofessionals in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms throughout the district. Service is on a Per Diem basis, in half or whole day assignments, allowing the employees to make their own schedules according to their own availability and needs. Scheduling can be completed through our digital substitute placement and tracking software.
Substitutes engage with and supervise students, conduct classroom operations, follow and implement lesson plans, and provide instructional support to individual students and small groups as needed.
Guest Substitutes can serve in all subject/content areas and grade levels. The 2023-2024 daily rate is $125 ($62.50per half-day).
