The team behind the newly opened Hotel Ulysses in Baltimore is actively seeking candidates for the position of Guest Service Agent for immediate hire.

ASH Hotels designs, develops, owns and operates a very special collection of properties. In our world, a hotel is much more than a destination to meet, dine, or sleep. Rather, it is a dynamic site of imagery and emotions, interactions and sensations manifesting within the walls of a beautifully restored local legend - a living movie set.

In the fall of 2022 ASH Hotels opened the doors of Hotel Ulysses, a place where wanderers from anywhere can come for one-of-a-kind experiences whether they are popping out of their Baltimore studio for a drink or need a place to stay during their east coast tour. To venture into Baltimore’s rich history and vibrant community by way of the landmark Latrobe building feel’s only natural — an icon with a checkered past that has been restored to carry on its legacy. Nestled into the neighborhood of Mt. Vernon, the sprawling site will have 116 rooms for stay alongside an eccentric cocktail lounge and an all-day salon style café that will serve breakfast, lunch, aperitivo and dinner.

About you:

The Guest Service Agent (GSA) will be an elegant host prepared for anything — from art exhibit recommendations to an extra pillow. Meticulously “reading the room” and anticipating needs, our ideal candidate will be thorough and passionate in their hospitality and the cinematic experiences of ASH Hotels.

This person is an extrovert by nature, a true people-person who gains energy from engaging guests in genuine and attentive interactions. As the face of the hotel, the front desk is Hotel Ulysses first impression, and our ideal candidate will know how to set the tone through their spirited and zealous persona.

Role and Responsibilities:

The Guest Service Agent will be the main point of reference for all guests. From before the actual arrival, a GSA is already the number one contact guests have with the property, all the way through departure and follow-up requests guests may have.

• Check-in and Check-out
• Room Assignments
• Coordination with Housekeeping and Maintenance for inventory management
• Responding to guest requests
• Concierge
• Navigating guest concerns and opportunities
• Cashiering and billing tasks and procedures
• Providing recommendations and guidance to guests
• Maintenance and promotion of good communication and report with management and team members
• Strict following of privacy and security rules regarding corporate and guest information
• Embodiment of property and company goals, purpose, culture and role in the community

Preferred Skills:

• Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, communicate and interact in English through different channels, from in-person contact to e-mail and on the phone. The tone is positive and courteous, always genuine to provide service and assistance;
• Previous hotel front desk experience desirable and so is bilingualism;
• Work hours will spread over weekdays, weekends and holidays, which requires flexibility;
• Working knowledge of computers and IT systems is essential;
• Comfort in cash handling and credit card procedures;
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds on occasion. Must be able to stand, walk, and work on feet for extended periods of time. Requires grasping, writing, typing / keying, extended periods of standing, walking, repetitive motions, hearing, and visual acuity.
