Description:

Punahou School is actively recruiting a Part-Time No Benefits Growth Coach who will play a vital role in the Faculty Growth and Development program that will support faculty in their professional learning and growth. The Growth Coach will collaborate extensively with the Director of Teaching and Learning to support faculty in goal setting, action planning, learning, and project management. The Growth Coach will lead regular cohort meetings of faculty groups, will provide feedback for teachers based on class observations, and will meet 1:1 with teachers regularly to support learning, reflection, growth, and renewal. The role will be as a coach, facilitator, and faculty partner to help the teacher achieve actionable goals aligned with the mission, values, and K-12 Learning Outcomes of the school. Job duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Facilitate the professional development of teachers.
  • Support and guide teachers to set and achieve growth goals.
  • Co-create growth plans with clear benchmarks set throughout the year.
  • Oversee teachers’ progress toward determined goals.
  • Communicate research-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance and engagement.
  • Provide encouragement and emotional support to teachers.
  • Observe and provide feedback to teachers to guide them in their growth.
  • Assist in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues.
  • Employ effective questioning to lead teachers to a greater depth of self-awareness.
  • Build community among a cohort of teachers.
  • Facilitate regular cohort meetings of teachers using protocols and coaching strategies.
  • Utilize data for informed decision-making.
  • Continue to develop professionally and research best practices for teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Teaching and Learning regularly to align coaching with the goals of each division’s Principal and the goals of the Center for Teaching and Learning.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with teachers and administrators.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, Master’s preferred.
  • Five (5) years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Deep and broad professional development experiences.
  • Experience as a mentor, coach, or facilitator of adults.
  • Experience with leading individuals and teams of adults.
