Primary Objective of Group Sales Manager Position:
The Group Sales Manager will be an integral member of the sales team whose primary role is to solicit and handle inquiries for group bookings for room blocks of 10+ rooms per night with meeting space and catering. Exact market segments will be determined based on past experience and strengths in certain markets. The Sales Manager works as a team member with the sales and catering staff to ensure guest satisfaction and repeat business. The ideal candidate will thrive in this team oriented Sales environment to ensure that all revenue goals are met.
Responsibilities:
· Solicit, negotiate and generate contracted revenues from volume prospects that meet criteria established in the hotel business plan.
· Accurately prepare and present Requests for Proposals so that both client and hotel receive a good value.
· Prospect for new contract business using a wide variety of methods including phone calls, outside sales calls, attending community functions,
internet prospecting, supplier partnerships, trade journals, etc.
· Manage and maintain an accurate and up-to-date contact management system.
· Negotiate and close contracts that meet the hotel's business plan objectives. Desired arrival, departure and volume patterns must be met.
· Internally communicate client requirements, thereby insuring all information is accurate between client and hotel staff.
· Coordinate and participate in target market trade shows and sales blitzes.
· Conduct competitive analysis and maintain competitor files in order to be able to compete successfully.
· Maintain good rapport with local civic groups and companies.
· Associates Degree in Sales & Marketing, Hospitality, Business, or a related field strongly preferred.
· Minimum 2 years hotel sales manager experience expected.

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday - typically an 8 hr shift
- Weekend availability, as needed basis only

The employee may be sometimes exposed to outside weather conditions and the noise level is usually moderate.
