 Job Duties:

  • Reinforce stated treatment goals and objectives that are measurable.
  • Participate effectively in multidisciplinary treatment plan reviews, demonstrating adequate preparation and understanding of patient issues, progress, areas of resistance, positive and negative strategies, etc.
  • Document the patient’s progress accurately as it relates to treatment goals and objectives.
  • Assist patients in gaining group process skills.
  • Address problem behaviors.
  • Utilize experiential techniques effectively.
  • Create atmosphere in which self-disclosure is facilitated.
  • Conduct educational groups (lectures/videos/discussions) effectively.
  • Adhere to time schedules.
  • Assist patients gain insight into problems.
  • Assist patients in understanding treatment goals.
  • Give patient a clear picture of where he/she stands with regard to progress toward recovery as seen by the therapist and the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Enforce program rules and regulations in a firm but fair manner.
  • Confront and document counter-productive behavior appropriately.
  • Bond with patients and elicit respect.
  • Adapt to different types of patients.
  • Identify patient strengths and weaknesses.
  • Maintain healthy boundaries.
  • Be effective in finding needed resources.
  • Maintain clinical records according to program policies and those of licensing and accrediting agencies.
  • Ensure clinical documentation is completed timely to include general and DAP notes
  • Demonstrates knowledge of working with clients with substance abuse issues.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.  Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family, and/or Healthcare related field is preferred.
  • 3-4 years of experience in substance abuse and mental health field.
  • CAP, preferred.
  • CPR certification required
  • Experience in conflict resolution
  • Compassionate and caring demeanor
  • Ability to build rapport with clients
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with community resources
  • Experience with KIPU EMR preferred

Abilities/Competencies:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of the discipline.
  • Adheres to: Healthcare Code of Ethics
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards
  • Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding:
