Summary/Objective:
The Group Facilitator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating regular support groups and workshops for clients receiving substance abuse recovery services. As a Group Facilitator, you will encourage peer support by providing strength and hope to individuals through sharing your own recovery experiences and knowledge. The Group Facilitator will assist in implementing a recovery environment and serve as an advocate for the needs of each patient, while teaching life skills and delivering training when appropriate.
Responsibilities:
- Able to understand and help implement patients’ treatment plan goals by providing peer support services to the individual.
- Works with other members of the clinical team to ensure progress of the individual’s treatment plan goals.
- Provides a safe space for the expression of anxieties and exploration and sharing of the clients' journeys.
- Provides patients an example of what they can strive for in their recovery and instills the belief that recovery is real and possible
- Develop meaningful relationships with clients through their experiences, while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Closely observes clients for appropriate participation in program activities and safety, and seeks alternative arrangements should the premises become unsuitable.
- Completes progress notes within the required timeframe.
- Attend staff meetings and training as required.
Skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- Excellent computer and typing skills with experience in both Microsoft office and Electronic Medical/Health Records systems.
- Excellent verbal communication skills to explain subject matters to adult clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong interpersonal skills including cross-functional collaboration and cultural competence.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Ability to work in an office setting 5 days a week, including access to reliable transportation.
- Bachelor's degree in related field required, Master's degree in related field preferred.
- Minimum 1 year experience facilitating groups.
- Must have a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card in good standing.
- Must be able to obtain CPR/First aid certification.
- Must provide proof of a negative TB test.
