Responsible for operating a variety of heavy trucks, tractors, construction equipment, light duty pick-ups, grass cutting equipment on a regularly assigned basis; check for improper functioning of the equipment during operations; performing general grounds keeping and other duties necessary to maintain the appearance of the District locations.

- Drives light duty pick-ups, farm tractor, heavy equipment truck/machines, and grass cutting equipment.
- Repair/replace dumpsters at various locations.
- Pick up and deliver dirt, sand, mulch, firebark, and sod.
- Removes tree branches/stumps and debris when required.
- Cuts swells and ditches for drainage as needed.
- Perform concrete/asphalt patching, along with filling potholes.
- Removal of ice/snow when required.
- Serve as a strike team to cut district locations when requested.
- Cut SCIAA stadiums, along with tilling and dragging baseball fields when required.
- Travel to various sites to repair/patch concrete, asphalt, and potholes
- Attends meetings and workshops as necessary to enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Requires High School diploma or GED plus one (1) year of related experience for a total of education/experience of 1 year. Requires a valid state driver's license.
Degree Equivalency Formula:
Bachelor's Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master's Degrees are required, years for Bachelor's Degrees must be included.
- Knowledge of usage, techniques and practices of maintenance and repair of medium and heavy equipment including backhoe, tractor, forklifts, bobcats, and trailers.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and standards; ability to observe health and safety regulations.
- Knowledge of diagnostic and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to operate lawn, heavy, and construction equipment.
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to read, interpret and apply manufacturer's manuals and training guides.
Physical Demands: Requires climbing, kneeling, stooping, lifting, carrying, sitting, standing, walking, bending over, eye/hand coordination, exerting up to 50 pounds of force, dexterity and skill in operating machinery and tools on a regular basis.
Unavoidable Hazards: The position is exposed to extreme heat/cold, wet or humid conditions, bright/dim lights, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, heights, disease/pathogens, traffic, animals/wildlife, toxic or caustic chemicals.
