SAIC is looking for a Ground System Command and Control Engineer. The member will be an integral participant in Ground System Command and Control hardware requirements development, design analysis, production, and verification. Key areas of focus include ground hardware design, RF hardware and antenna and/or lasercom terminal installation and test, ground Site operations and maintenance, and ground hardware long-term supportability. Experienced in the design & integration of ground station digital hardware and knowledgeable of ground station activities. Track Ground System development issues and upcoming events – provide status updates to the customer as needed. Identify and assess emerging risks and develop & evaluate proposed burn-down plans. Review developer’s readiness to proceed into factory and site test and evaluation.
Job Duties include:
- Provide expert advice/analysis on site operational and maintenance considerations for Ground System requirements flowdown, design, integration, and operations support.
- Support relevant Ground System hardware specification development and test planning activities for the program and with the Enterprise
- Lead coordination and completion of ground segment specification sell-off, along with other verification and validation activities
- Support interface definition between the space segment unique Command and Control elements and external interfaces including the architecture’s Integrated Command & Control (IC2)
- Coordinate across the Program Office for any proposed specification changes and facilitate integration of changes into the baseline
- Develop productive relationships with development contractor counterparts, functional counterparts, and other spacecraft, payload, and ground subject matter experts
- Advise and mentor customer personnel regarding Segment architecture, specification, and verification and validation
Qualifications
Position Qualifications
- BS Degree in engineering required
- 9+ years of experience with a BS degree, 6+ years of experience with an MS degree
- TS/SCI with poly required
- Skills and Experience
- Prior Ground System experience in a major satellite program office or commercial SATCOM office
- Demonstrated knowledge of acquisition, development and O&M practices for large, complex systems
- Understand Command and Control differences for satellite orbit regimes and significance to their missions
- Experience in DoD/IC acquisition process and program management milestones
- Experience with interfaces to external systems including signal processors
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to be effective in a USG/Contractor team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
