Position Summary:
Portland Parks and Recreation is seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Golf Course Lead Greenskeeper. In this role, you will provide specialized care to golf course greens, grounds, and facilities while also serving as a lead to assigned workers. Your knowledge of golf course maintenance and leadership abilities will be crucial in ensuring the playability and overall maintenance of our courses.
What you'll get to do:- Utilize specialized knowledge of golf course operations to support the supervisor in ensuring the playability of assigned courses.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate work activities, including determining resource needs and directing the work of the crew.
- Review the work of assigned staff, provide training, and offer guidance to ensure quality standards are met.
- Perform computer-related tasks such as timekeeping, procurement, and irrigation scheduling.
- Mow greens, collars, tees, fairways, and roughs with precision.
- Clean and rake traps, maintain ball washers, and change cup and tee placements to maintain course integrity.
- Identify turf diseases, apply fertilizers, pesticides, seeding, and top dressing as part of grounds maintenance.
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems, troubleshooting and diagnosing issues as needed.
- Assume lead responsibilities in the absence of the superintendent.

To Qualify
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
Knowledge of golf course operations, including effective leadership.- Experience setting up golf courses and applying golf rules and etiquette.
- Experience safely and effectively applying fertilizers and pesticides.
- Experience in providing training and direction to staff, including assigning, and reviewing work performed.
- Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing irrigation issues.
- Ability to work constructively in a team, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- A valid state driver's license and an acceptable driving record
