Graphic Designer

BUG-A-SALT, a growing start-up (over 6 million units sold and counting!) manufacturing a unique, patented insect eradication device seeks a full-time, experienced Graphic Designer.

Summary:We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated, and proactive Graphic Designer with excellent layout skills. You know what hierarchy of information means and how to creatively organize this into the specs you are given. The idea of helping us grow our brand globally sounds exciting. You understand we are running a business and have a bottom line to account for. You have excellent attention to detail and don’t think it’s someone else’s job to proof your work (so you can float around like a sparkly, creative butterfly on the moon).

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Support internal and external digital and print media design. For example, help our Creative Director build out a page for a “Bug-Bible” on our website.

- Support Marketing and Creative Services on weekly projects such as email blasts to launch sales and new products.

- You must be able to study a detailed style guide and create materials based on this guide. If you like to change fonts a lot and use the ones you prefer, this won’t be the right fit (sorry).

- Retouch photos for use in print advertising, website, and social media. You will be expected to manipulate photos and composite according to creative directives.

- Responsible for upholding design and brand standards without constant reminders/direction.

- Responsible for updating global packaging/branding on a weekly/monthly basis.

- Responsible for auditing and assisting the Creative Director with our Sharefile. For example, audit our packaging for Canada and verify the correct files are stored where they are supposed to be.

- Submit end of day report tracking your progress on current and pending projects (to help the Creative Director & Senior Management manage workflow).

- Infuse humor and entertainment into your design work at every opportunity.

- Any other creative services/graphic design tasks we require as needed (in order to grow our brand).

Qualifications:

• 3+ years experience in graphic design.

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or similar field preferred.

• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite & Mac OS.

• Proficient in typography and logo design.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Experience in reformatting and resizing digital and print files to multiple dimensions and file formats.

• Experience with packaging design a plus.

• Experience with web design a plus.

• Excellent writing/typing skills. Must be able to type at least 35 words per minute.• Willing to design (in a fun filled manner) for a more traditional, middle-American customer base.

• Willing and able to follow directives/respond well to the chain of command.

• Expert attention to detail – and can-do attitude.

• Reliable, self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as on a team.

Job Type: Full time/hybrid. Person in this role will be required to come into the office for a minimum of three days per week. No exceptions!

Pay: $27.00 - $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
