The Grants Manager will provide support to the Executive Director in coordinating grantmaking for the Misophonia Research Fund (MRF), an initiative of the REAM Foundation. The MRF was founded in 2019 with the goal of funding and advancing scientific breakthroughs in misophonia research to end suffering from misophonia.
The Grants Manager will provide essential support by managing the grant application process including contracting, reporting, payments, and other administrative functions. The Grant Manager is also responsible for ensuring grantees’ compliance with grant terms and conditions; ensuring integrity of the grants management database; and fulfilling the information needs of various stakeholders such as clients and grantees.
The Grants Manager must be detail-oriented, highly organized, adaptable, and be capable of working independently and performing duties of a confidential nature. The Grants Manager should hold 3-5 years’ experience in grant administration and will report directly to the Executive Director. Limited travel is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
Grants Management:
- Oversee the due diligence process and documentation in compliance with IRS and foundation-specific regulations for all grantees, including those outside of the U.S.
- Communicate with grant applicants on the process of proposal and report submissions, answer routine inquiries from grant seekers/grantees.
- Track and ensure completeness of grantee financial and scientific reporting.
- Track and monitor grants and grant payments; ensure all pre- and post-grant requirements are met; create and monitor payment and reporting schedules via monthly reports.
- Draft grant award letters, contracts, and other correspondence.
- Generate reports, analyses, and data visualizations on grants.
- Manage grants database, including input and review of information.
- Recommend policies and/or procedures for special types of grants.
Information management:
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of grants data and files, including board decisions, activities, grant agreements, contact information, coding, and other data in the database.
- Establish, maintain, and document procedures to ensure and improve workflow, efficiency, and grants data accuracy.
- Produce grant reports and analyses to inform the Executive Director and Board.
- Update information on MRF website. Ensure accuracy of grants-related information on website.
- Act as primary contact to database vendor.
- Design, maintain and update all grantmaking forms, including correspondence and reporting templates and online grant applications.
- Handle select administrative matters such as coordinating meetings, transcribing and distributing meeting minutes.
- Serve as point-of-contact for select external communications.
Additional responsibilities:
- Maintain awareness of advances in the field of misophonia research.
- Assist with planning meetings and conferences, providing onsite support as requested.
- Assist with occasional social media communications.
- Assist with other administrative duties as requested.
- Represent MRF at conference booths, providing information on grants and other programming.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a scientific discipline (i.e., psychology, neuroscience, biology).
- 3-5 years’ experience in research grant administration.
- Proficiency in grants management software.
- Proven project management, database, reporting and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work proactively and independently.
- Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office and other standard computer applications.
