Summary
The Grain Port Facility Manager will:
- Lead the management of the production operations of the facility to insure a safe and efficient operations.
- Optimize the inventory and logistics of trucks/barges/rail logistics to meet vessel/container shipments.
- Insure a consistent and quality grain supply to soybean crush facility.
- Maximize all mix/blend opportunities at the facility and origin locations.
- Maximize Dispatch earnings by coordinating inbound shipments with vessels.
- Maximize storage capability and handling capacity at the facility and control overall facility costs by effective scheduling.
- Manage the stevedore responsibilities (vessel loading; 12 additional headcount); prior outsourced to Kinder Morgan.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead Production, Logistics, and Inventory staff to include hiring, training, and developing the staff to meet the needs of the facility.
- Provide leadership for the safety program to ensure safe working conditions for all associates.
- Effectively manage grain and rail movements through Chesapeake to maximize facility efficiency, revenue generation, and meet internal/external customer needs.
- Effectively monitor and manage the quality and inventory of products through implementation of the facility Inventory Control Program.
- Ensure compliance with GIPSA/USDA grain handling and warehousing regulations.
- Partner on activities and plans with facility management, merchandisers, and internal/external traffic groups.
- Partner with the Terminal Port Manager on the scheduling of vessel loading.
- Partner with the Terminal Port Manager on the scheduling of vessel loading.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to optimize facility maintenance program.
- Manage new stevedore responsibilities.
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s Degree (Agriculture, Business, or Logistics)
Experience Requirements
- Knowledge of grain handling/storage facility operations and technologies.
- Knowledge of USDA Grain Standards for Domestic and Export operations.
- Knowledge of rail, truck, barge, container, and vessel logistics.
- Knowledge of U.S. Coast Guard Facility Security Protocols.
- Employee relations.
Experience Preferred
- 10 - 15 years previous experience managing a Grain Port Facility.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Able to move freely throughout the AgriBusiness facilities to include climbing vertical heights (0 - 150').
Carrying tools and equipment (0-50 pounds).
Exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity.
Exposure to (0 - 100%), noise (50db to 100db).
Exposure to chemicals (SDS sheets available).
Must be able to wear protective equipment to include self-contained breathing apparatus.
Required to travel to remote AgriBusiness facilities and customer locations.
