Since 1991, Lighting Maintenance Inc. (LMI) has been reliability serving the mid-Atlantic region.

We are seeking an experienced Government Contract Bidder in the electrical lighting field who is looking for a place to call home. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing accurate and timely electrical, lighting and traffic signal bids for state, county, and city agencies If you have excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a desire for a career and not just another job, we would be excited to hear from you.

Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Review daily project opportunity announcement
  • Receive new project documents, analyze their contents, and conceptually understand the project type of building and systems included.
  • Preparing bid protests as needed
  • Review all contract documents to become familiar with project requirements and obligations under the contract and apply to pricing (schedule, specifications, drawings, safety manual, etc.)
  • Submit RFIs for estimating questions by deadline.
  • Understand and communicate all risks of any particular solicitation
  • Thoroughly understand the bidding process and all rules governing the same.
  • Obtain vendor and subcontractor quotes and evaluate for completeness and best price for use in bid
  • Distribute qualification documents as required for the bid (MBE, WBE, experience, key individuals, etc.)
  • Draft scope letters, proposals and vendor solicitations.
  • Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed and calm manner.
  • Develop a detailed proposal letter or bid form
  • Upon award, update estimate to project via company procedures
  • Generate award documents for review to be submitted by deadline
  • Identify areas of importance (milestones, LDs, etc.) of a project and relay to PM and Foreman
  • Identify possible change orders and relay to PM and Foreman
  • Review/approve and/or forward submittals for shop drawings and samples for materials according to project requirements and schedules
  • Assure complete and thorough pre-construction planning and distribution of all documents in accordance with the pre-construction process
  • Facilitate a scope review with the PM and Foreman (Kickoff Meeting)
  • Attend the pre-construction meeting & attend project meetings as/if needed
  • Estimate change order costs

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in the commercial lighting/electrical field
  • At least 5 years’ experience in Government contracting bidding
  • Master or Journeyman electrician license preferred
  • Strategic thinker
  • Knowledge of site lighting, sportslighting, and electrical service work
  • Knowledge and proficiency with code requirements and basic electrical engineering calculations and ability to interpret electrical drawings.
  • Extensive experience with Excel, Word and any of the major computerized estimating programs
  • Analytical, problem-solving mentality
  • Team player, self-motivated, gets along well with supervisors, peers and subordinates
  • Valid Clean driver's license
  • Personable with customer focused demeanor
  • Drug, MVR and Background Screen required
  • Positive attitude, team player
  • Professional appearance at all times
  • Computer Literate- Outlook, Word, Excel, Accounting Software
