Golf Course Maintenance Intern
JOB OVERVIEW:
An intern, under the direction of the assistant superintendents, and AIT, operates all types of equipment, and does related work as needed for the golf course maintenance department. . Interns will be exposed to and will play an important role in our daily maintenance operation. Our internship program will consider the student's goals and involve them in several aspects of golf course management.

Most tasks are performed outdoors in variable weather conditions, including hot, cold, windy and wet weather. Temperature can be extreme but is usually moderate. Frequently works near moving/mechanical parts. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to reach with arms and hands; bend and stoop; remain at post standing for extended periods of time; required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Golf Course Maintenance Intern
JOB OVERVIEW:
An intern, under the direction of the assistant superintendents, and AIT, operates all types of equipment, and does related work as needed for the golf course maintenance department. . Interns will be exposed to and will play an important role in our daily maintenance operation. Our internship program will consider the student's goals and involve them in several aspects of golf course management.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Operates various mowers, string trimmers, aerifiers, and other important types of equipment. Operates all equipment authorized by supervisor when needed.
- Utilizes loaders and tractors to haul or remove material directed by supervisor.
- Participates in daily course set up.
- Assists in project work such as drainage, sod laying, preparing base soil, and any other projects that may arise through the season.
- Participates in chemical and fertilizer applications under the supervision of our Chemical Technician.
- Calibration of fertilizer and pesticides, along with recordkeeping of applications.
- Assists in irrigation repair and maintenance.
- Training and supervising staff with equipment use.
- Assists with project management and works on special projects.
- Communicates problems with playing conditions to supervisors immediately.
- Maintains effective communication and cooperation with all other departments.
- Maintains positive interactions with club members and guests, providing a high level of customer service.
- Performs any and all duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent or other members of the senior management team, as deemed appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Currently enrolled in a 204 year degree plan or turf certificate program that strives toward providing its students with the tool set necessary to succeed in turf grass management upon graduation.
- Working knowledge of operating hand and power tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of methods and materials used in golf course grounds maintenance work.
