Position Details
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Public Works Director or Utilities Superintendent and the direction of the GIS Technician performs entry-level to semi-skilled technical office and field GIS and asset management work for the Public Works Department.

This role is non-exempt and has a starting salary of $16.42- $19.58 DOQ.

The GIS Intern values people and perspectives by:

• Providing great customer service and delivering accurate GIS assets locations.
• Knowledge of Public Works infrastructure.

• Working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro 3.x, including familiarity with ArcGIS Online environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and drawings.

And they expect the best by:

• Performs or sets up systems and procedures for condition assessments.

• Collects and enters data in the office and field with GPS equipment and/or ArcGIS Collector Application.

What you'll bring to help you be successful

• Must have a High school diploma or G.E.D., with a minimum of one (1) year vocational or college course work in GIS geography, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field of study.
• Candidates should meet one of the following criteria: Have at least one (1) semester of education remaining in order to graduate; Receive a degree/certificate following the completion of the internship; Have recently graduated (2023) with a related degree or certificate.

• Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one.
