Gis Field Technician

Job Description
JMT Technology Group, a leading geospatial and information technology solutions provider, has an opening for a GIS technician to support a data collection and field verification project. The ideal candidate will have experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, and exposure to Esri Fieldmaps and/or Survey 123.This is a temporary position for a period of 4 months, with the potential to extend and/or transition into a full-time permanent role depending on performance and business needs. This individual will report to the Tampa, Florida office but will be required to perform work onsite in Largo, Florida.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Travel to project locations to perform field data collection and verification using GPS and other mobile data collection tools (up to 100%) locally throughout the Tampa Bay area.
• Field data collection, data processing, equipment and deployment preparation, GIS production work and other project tasks
• Follow quality assurance and quality control procedures and provide suggestions for process improvements for both office and field collection processes.
• Review and interpret source data files and translate information into GIS format
• Use Desktop ESRI apps to edit and maintain vector GIS data in various formats (i.e., file geodatabase, SDE, Portal, shapefile, and published map services)
• Perform edits to GIS data in a versioned database (branch and traditional) and reconcile/post edits with the default/parent version resolving possible conflicts
• Perform updates to ArcGIS Online/Portal platform applications including Story Maps, Field Maps, Experience Builder, and Survey 123
• Understand and process data and map requests and produce high quality hard and soft copy map deliverables
• Perform tasks under the direction of a project or task manager and regularly report progress on assigned work.

Required Skills

• Exposure to GPS and mobile technologies for field data collection.
• Knowledge of GIS concepts and analytical techniques, including geospatial data creation, conversion, manipulation, and analysis.
• Knowledge of cartographic standards and principles to develop high quality cartographic products for internal and external customers.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to plan, organize, and execute GIS-related tasks efficiently while meeting customer requirements
• Ability to communicate and work collaboratively and effectively with project team members.
• Ability to relate to and work with individuals representing a variety of disciplines, backgrounds, and cultures.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, computer science, information technology, engineering, planning, or related field, with relevant coursework in GIS.
• Minimum of two years of experience (including college) utilizing ESRI's latest suite of technology including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online to create and maintain geospatial data.
• An understanding of how ESRI applications and GIS technologies are used to solve client challenges.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with team members, customers, and consulting partners from a broad spectrum of disciplines.

Preferred Experience

• Utilize GIS analysis/tools to support data collection activities.

Working Conditions
This position will be performed both in an office setting as well as extensively in the field.

• Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
• Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting of carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed
• Ability to stand, walk or hike for an extended time in rough and uneven terrain, steep hillsides, creeks, remote areas, and heavily traveled roadways
• Work will also be performed within a general office environment some of the time and is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking
