Position Title:Enrollment Manager
Reports to: School Director
Status: Full-Time Administrative Position (12 months)
Classification: Exempt
About the School
The German International School Chicago (GISC) is a private, nonprofit, bilingual IB World School, authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization and accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS). GISC opened its doors in 2009 and is now offering classes for students from Preschool through Grade 8. With a student enrollment of 185 students for the 2023-2024 school year, GISC intends to grow through the completion of high school.
GISC's curriculum is taught mainly in German with an intercultural approach. GISC welcomes students of all backgrounds and nationalities. Students learn in a supportive and individualized environment that nurtures curiosity and creativity while fostering global awareness. GISC students - fluent in German and English - will become well-rounded, creative, and responsible global citizens.
Essential Job Functions
- Is responsible for GISC's enrollment management, including admissions, financial aid program, and retention.
- Manages all aspects of the admissions process from first point of contact to the successful enrollment and retention of students, including all communications, tours, open houses, visits, interviews, testing as well as thorough documentation and data entry in the school's CMS (Blackbaud) and other software systems.
- Sets annual enrollment and admissions goals in cooperation with the School Director.
- Manages special events related to community outreach, admissions, and retention.
- Serves as coordinating person to promote summer camp to current, prospective, and alumni families.
- Stays current on trends in admissions, financial aid, and retention, including economic and demographic shifts that could impact admissions and enrollment.
- Maintains admissions and enrollment statistics and provides status and achievement reports to Administrators and Board of Trustees as directed.
- Works closely with the school's Marketing, Finance, Administration, and Development departments as well as the Academic Leadership Team.
- In collaboration with the Marketing department, is responsible for creating a comprehensive marketing plan that increases inquiries, applications, and enrollment from qualified candidates.
- Organizes and administers GISC's financial aid program and budget in collaboration with the Director of Finance & Administration.
- Cultivates and maintains effective relations within the community at large; i.e., targeted feeder schools, community organizations, business partners, etc.
- Executes administrative and other office tasks as needed.
Specific Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or graduate degree
- Experience in School Enrollment and Admissions (preferred)
- Proficiency in German language (both in speaking and writing); commitment to bilingualism and global citizenship
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, networking, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent work ethic with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Must have a keen eye for detail
- Commitment to best practices in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (commitment, courage, cognizance of bias, curiosity, cultural intelligence, and collaboration)
- Excellent command of technology and database systems
- Google Suite experience and CMS experience (preferably Blackbaud) are a plus
Work Environment
This position operates in an office environment that is accessible. Some work at off-site locations may be required, and those may not necessarily be fully accessible. This role does not allow remote work. It routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently climb stairs, lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. This position requires occasional evening and weekend work. This workplace is a smoke- and drug-free environment.
