Job Description
General Responsibilities:
For this position you will be working closely with civil engineers, geologists, lab techs, and field personnel to assist with the management, coordination, and performance of project field services, data collection, quality control, and assist in report preparation for geotechnical projects including but not limited to; site geology review, exploration plan development, visual sample classification, help and review lab testing, generation of soil/rock/pavement boring logs, summary documents, and project invoice management. You will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments. Projects sizes will vary from local municipalities to departments of transportation. Much of our work involves geotechnical and foundation recommendations for transportation-related structures, such as roadways, culverts, retaining walls, and bridges. This experience will help further your knowledge of Engineering Geology and Economic/ Resources Geology which is an essential part of the ASBOG Exams.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Aid other field and/or laboratory personnel
  • Perform sampling or testing as directed
  • Soil, rock, pavement core log interpretation
  • Transports equipment, specimens or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients or other offices, and provides physical assistance in equipment set-up
  • Assist in report preparation
  • Create subsurface profiles and cross-sections
  • Assists other technicians or professional staff on routine tasks
  • Fieldwork such as piezometers, inclinometer, vibration monitors, resistivity, GPR, and more
  • Soil and rock logging on project sites

Requirements:
  • Have or working on a BS or MS degree in progress in geology, environmental, hydrogeology, earth sciences, soil science, or related fields
  • Have a valid driver's license with acceptable violation history
  • Need reliable form of transportation
  • Have a valid work or school visa if not from the US

  • Understand that safety is essential

Technical Skills That Could Help:
  • Rock and soil classification experience
  • Geophysics experience
  • Environmental experience
  • Lab experience
  • ArcGIS experience

Note:
  • This is a full-time position (40+ hr. work week) that is paid hourly
  • Time and a half for over 40 hrs.
  • Flexible start date and end date
  • Holidays (unpaid)
  • Flexible vacation/ sick leave time (unpaid)
  • This position does not offer stipends for housing/ apartments
