Position Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY: Assist GIS Coordinator/Analyst in building, maintaining, modifying, and using geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases; performing some custom application development and providing user support; creating and editing desktop GIS data; transcribing information from hard copy documentation into GIS, creating maps for other departments; and collecting field data using ArcGIS Online and iPads.

Job Duties
- Design, plan, and implement new data sets and feature classes.
- Create new data sets, feature classes and maps, web maps, and applications.
- Prepare maps, analytical reports, graphics or other visual representations of geographic information and data for analysis.
- Use mobile device to capture data using Field Maps or other mobile mapping applications.
- Evaluate data quality.
- Coordinate project activities with other personnel or departments.
- Document technical specifications or requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Geography - Knowledge of principles and methods for describing the natural and human environment, including data, analytic environments, geographic data expression, geospatial workflows, and metadata.
- Computers and Electronics - Knowledge of Esri applications including ArcGIS Desktop 10x and ArcGIS Pro, Microsoft Office projects including Outlook Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision mapping, web applications, technical plans, drawings, and models.
- Critical Thinking and Complex Problem Solving - Thinking about the pros and cons of different ways to solve a problem; and noticing a problem and figuring out the best way to solve it.
- Inductive and Deductive Reasoning - Making or using general rules or coming up with answers to solve problems from lots of detailed information.
- Information Ordering and Category Flexibility - Ordering, grouping or arranging things in different ways.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Desktop or Pro Applications.
- Completion of a minimum of two introductory courses related to GIS (such as ArcGIS I & II); or
- The equivalent professional experience to the course requirement qualification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Work, coursework, or life experiences encompassing diversity, equity and inclusion culture.
