Geochemist

Primary Responsibilities:

• Field Operations: The incumbent will conduct field experiments, procure water samples, and gather geological data to investigate geochemical and metallurgical phenomena.
• Water Analysis: Evaluate water samples to determine their chemical composition and assess their impact on geological and metallurgical processes.
• Phase Diagram Utilization: Enhance metallurgical processes by creating and interpreting phase diagrams to comprehend material behavior in diverse conditions.
• Analytical Proficiency: Perform quantitative analysis of water chemistry utilizing techniques such as ion chromatography (IC) and inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy (ICP). Ensure the precision and accuracy of analytical findings and address instrument-related challenges as necessary.
• Preference for Thermodynamic Models: Preferably, apply thermodynamic models like UNIQUAC, PHREEQC, and Visual MINTEQ to anticipate and comprehend the thermodynamic properties of chemical mixtures. Utilize modeling outcomes to refine processes and offer enhancement suggestions.
• Educational Background and Requirements:
• A Bachelor's degree in Geological Sciences, Geological Engineering, or Metallurgy Engineering is mandatory.
• Desired candidates should possess experience in both fieldwork and laboratory-based analytical chemistry and/or metallurgy. Proficiency in English and Spanish is crucial for effective field communication.

Preferred Competencies:

• Familiarity with UNIQUAC, PHREEQC, and Visual MINTEQ models and their respective applications.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills concerning intricate geochemical and metallurgical matters.
• Exceptional organizational capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $50,949.70 - $75,000.00 per year
