Overview:
We seek a highly skilled and motivated Geochemist to join our dynamic team at PureLi. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in geological sciences, analytical chemistry, and metallurgy. Key areas of proficiency include quantitative water chemistry, development of phase diagrams, analytical techniques such as IC/ICP, and familiarity with thermodynamic models. Fluency in Spanish and English is essential for this role. The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting fieldwork, data analysis, and providing valuable insights into geochemical and metallurgical processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fieldwork: A candidate is expected to conduct field experiments, collect water samples, and gather geological data to study geochemical and metallurgical phenomena.
- Water Chemistry: Analyze water samples to quantify the chemical composition and interpret the impact on geological and metallurgical processes.
- Phase Diagrams: Optimize metallurgical processes by developing and interpreting phase diagrams to understand material behavior under varying conditions.
- Analytical Skills: Quantitative analysis of water chemistry utilizing analytical techniques such as ion chromatography (IC) and inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy (ICP). Ensuring the accuracy and precision of analytical results and troubleshooting instrumentation issues as needed.
- Experience with thermodynamic models is preferred: Applying the UNIQUAC, PHREEQC and Visual MINTEQ models to predict and understand the thermodynamic properties of chemical mixtures. Use modeling results to optimize processes and provide recommendations for improvement.
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Geological Sciences, Geological Engineering, or Metallurgy Engineering is required.
An ideal candidate will have experience in fieldwork and lab-based analytical chemistry and/or metallurgy. Fluency in both English and Spanish is essential for effective communication in the field.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with the UNIQUAC, PHREEQC, and Visual MINTEQ models and their applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically about complex geochemical and metallurgical issues.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
