Summary:
- The General Superintendent is responsible for providing on-site management including necessary planning, organization, direction, coordination and control for all field personnel in a manner that supports the profit and growth objectives of the company.
- The General Superintendent should have knowledge and experience in safety, communications, forecasting, conflict resolution, negotiating, understanding job costs, projecting costs to complete, and managing changes in scope pricing and procurement.
- The General Superintendent is further responsible for ensuring scheduled completion of projects is within the established budget, time frames, quality and performance standards, and customer/client satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and direct the work of multiple crews led by Superintendents, foreman and crew leaders to ensure all project tasks are completed on schedule and within budget
- Ensure projects are properly staffed and on schedule including providing adequate project look ahead for staffing, equipment and material purchases/deliveries
- Review and have an in-depth understanding of all plans, contract documents, specifications, shop drawings, scopes of work and submittals for identifying and clarifying any discrepancies
- Direct field to operate according to the plans and specification in an efficient and professional manner to ensure that critical activities and decisions remain on task
- Manage, supervise, and inspect all work performed on site
- Conduct periodic jobsite meetings to review job progress, schedules, and job site safety
- Participate in progress meetings with the team and clients
- Conduct and ensure quality control in accordance with the plans and specification
- Perform close-out review including punchlist
- Support Superintendents/Crew Leaders throughout the duration of the job
- Document and respond to project field issues that impact budget, quality or schedule
- Support the Project Superintendent in the development of logistics plans and schedules during pre-construction and early project activities
- Identify and resolve conflicts, work issues, and safety issues in a timely manner
- Ensures that installations are performed in accordance with plans, specifications, laws, regulations, and/or local codes and ordinances
- Attend utility owner meetings and disseminate necessary information to foreman, field crews, office personnel, and leadership
- Possess the ability to perform all electrical tasks on site as needed with minimal supervision and assistance throughout all operations within the contract documents as specified
- Must fully comprehend the NFPA 70 National Electrical Code as well as electrical theory
- Lays out project work and ensures that materials, tools, and equipment are scheduled to meet scope, budget, and project construction schedules
- Responsible for reviewing project documents, plans and specifications, directing construction activities, resolving construction difficulties, coordinating field installations, project close-outs, and developing and/or maintaining customer/client relationships
- Performs annual performance evaluations of assigned personnel as directed
- Drives a safety-first culture by supporting safety initiatives, enforcing stop work authority and supporting ongoing safety training and education
- Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to electrical operations, environmental quality and safety, and customer relations management
- Maintains and applies technical and business knowledge of current and possible future utility and regulatory trends, policies, and practices

Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum of seven years of related electrical experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
- Ability to read and understand project scopes and estimate project values
- Proven leadership with the goal of optimizing organizational performance
- Possess and exercise considerable judgment, initiative, and professional knowledge in performing the duties of this position, including making reasoned and informed technical and business decisions
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be willing to travel as needed
- Strong organizational skills, high level of accuracy and be able to work in a fast paced environment
- Must have high level of confidentiality and a good understanding of general business practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities at one time
- Proven written and verbal communications abilities; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite

Physical Requirements:
- Sit, stand and walk continuously throughout the scheduled workday
- Stand, reach, drive and use fine motor skills frequently throughout the day
- Occasionally bend, kneel, squat and climb throughout the workday
- Lift up to 40-50 lbs. on occasion
- Must work in a manner that will not jeopardize the health and safety of him/herself or others
