About the role

The General Manager, Manufacturing Portfolio Company will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to all aspects of a new portfolio company's manufacturing operation. This position requires a seasoned executive with a proven track record in managing a growing manufacturing business. As the General Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing manufacturing operations, and business development efforts. This leadership position is responsible for formulating effective strategies to enhance revenue, profitability, and market presence. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strategic thinking, technical expertise, sales and marketing skills, and strong leadership abilities to drive the success of this new enterprise in our portfolio.

You should feel comfortable working in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. You must be able to effectively liaise internally with team members as well as with outside stakeholders when necessary.

What you"ll do

  • Leadership and Strategy: Provide visionary leadership to guide the company towards its long-term goals and objectives. Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve business objectives aligned with the UEP Group's overall business goals. Analyze market trends and competition to identify opportunities for revenue growth and profit improvement. Collaborate with the portfolio leadership team to set long-term business objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Sales and Business Development: Develop and manage a network of manufacturer's sales representative firms to expand market reach. Drive revenue growth by developing and implementing sales and marketing growth strategies that result in increased profitability. Enhance and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, manufacturer rep firms, and other key stakeholders to ensure the Company is well-respected in the marketplace. Identify new business opportunities and develop strategic partnerships
  • Manufacturing Operations: Oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery of products. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the product and manufacturing environment. Monitor and control production costs while maintaining high-quality standards. Implement best practices in manufacturing processes and technology
  • Engineering and Product Design: Lead the engineering and product design teams to develop and enhance our product line. Ensure products meet or exceed industry standards for safety, performance, and compliance. Drive innovation and differentiation to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Team Development: Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages professional growth and continuous improvement. Provide strong leadership and guidance to the department heads and production team by establishing performance metrics, optimizing workflows to meet production targets, and conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets, ensuring financial targets are met. Analyze financial reports and monitor key performance indicators to make informed business decisions. Implement measures to improve financial performance and profitability.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements. Stay informed about changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to manufacturing processes. Establish and enforce quality control standards to meet customer expectations. Drive initiatives to improve product quality and consistency. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing processes. Address and resolve any quality issues promptly and effectively.
  • Supply Chain Management: Collaborate with the supply chain and procurement teams to optimize inventory levels, minimize lead times, and ensure a reliable supply of raw materials. Implement strategies to mitigate supply chain risks and disruptions. Oversee procurement and inventory management to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Client and Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, suppliers, and stakeholders. Collaborate with other senior leaders, to align manufacturing strategies with overall business objectives and industry trends. Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide updates on manufacturing performance and initiatives. Ensure exceptional customer satisfaction and address any issues promptly.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks to manufacturing operations and implement strategies to mitigate those risks. Develop and maintain contingency plans to ensure business continuity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Proven experience driving profitable business growth in a senior leadership role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and financial abilities.
  • Experience in developing strong relationships with employees and third-party business partners.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing business strategies that drive revenue growth and profitability.
