Position: General ManagerReports to: Chief Product Officer

Location: Spooky Nook Sports Complex – Champion Mill Hamilton, Ohio 45013

COMPANY INFORMATION:

SV Sports is repositioning a fifty-year-old sporting goods chain and evolving the way that performance products are brought directly to the young athlete. We operate several complimentary distribution models, including retail, ecommerce, and team sales. We take a holistic approach to servicing young athletes where they play. We operate retail stores in large sports and training facilities. Our flagship location is in Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster PA and services hundreds of thousands of athletes AND their families annually.

Our NEWEST LOCATION is currently under construction in the Spooky Nook facility in Hamilton Ohio. We provide these stores with pinnacle products from the best brands in athletic footwear, apparel, and equipment. SV Sports is looking for a General Manager that can prepare this store for opening and develop it into a successful addition to the SV Sports retail portfolio.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for leading the SV Sports’ store operations team in the Spooky Nook Sports facility. The goal is to provide every athlete, coach, and fan’s a championship experience. As a member of SV Sports, you will be working with a team of industry veterans that are focused on disrupting how sports products are brought to market. You will be working with the best brands and the coolest merchandise for the young athlete.

The person in this position will continue to develop and evolve the current business model to increase sales and profitability. This model is revolutionary in concept yet retains much of a traditional store environment. The concept is a proven success but has not reached its potential. We are looking for a leader that can help get there. The GM will motivate and train the store team in our fast-paced fun work environment.

In addition to bringing a great retail experience to life, you will be a direct point of contact for the uniform and equipment needs with the Spooky Nook organization. There will be a focus on group sales within Spooky Nook athletic entities including camps, affiliated leagues, and staff.

You will also be able to utilize contacts within marketing and merchandising to develop marketing activations that pair specific sports groups with adjacent sporting goods brands.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute the strategy that exceeds planned sales and gross margin goals per operating budget guidelines while enhancing brand positioning.
  • Responsible for the recruiting, training, development, and performance of the retail store staff.
  • Develop and maintain the optimum staffing model to provide great service while maximizing store profitability.
  • Implement and maintain visual excellence based on weekly tournament type and product flow.
  • Perform accurate completion of daily pick and pack requirements and keep up stockroom efficiency.
  • Minimize loss prevention through a well thought out staffing model and sales floor management.
  • Respond to market needs by providing a continuous flow of information regarding trend development and merchandise assortment needs.
  • Work with the marketing department to develop, coordinate, and communicate brand activations that elevate the experience for all participants at Spooky Nook events.
  • Develop and initiate a measurable customer email/capture program.
  • Develop relationships with Spooky Nook staff and affiliations to build a revenue model within the Spooky Nook facility.
  • Increase sales by developing relations with tournament directors, tournament vendors, coaches as they participate in events at Spooky Nook.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a proven operations track record with at least 3 years of experience as a manager/district manager in a national retail store sales and operations environment.
  • Can demonstrate success in recruiting sales associates from retailers, local schools, and other appropriate avenues.
  • A desire to teach and coach a staff of diverse individuals and find potential next level assistants and manager candidates for future stores or other SV Sports positions.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Requires a proficient analytical ability to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to plan and organize effectively.
  • Must be able to stand for a large portion of the workday and be able to lift up to 30 lbs

COMPENSATION

Compensation is competitive and based on experience. Salary ranges from $50K to $65K per year. Bonus opportunities are available up to 20% based on sales, staffing, and loss prevention targets. Our benefit offerings include Health, Dental, Vision, Short- and Long-Term Disability, 401K, and other additional benefits. Eligibility for insurance benefits and Paid Time Off benefits begin 30 days from the 1stof the month.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

As the General Manager of this store, you must be able to set a schedule for staff that takes care of the daily shipments, visual set ups and store sales. The candidate must be aware that, although the store must be open every day, almost all the traffic, tournaments, and sales occur on weekends.

You must love to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to prioritize multiple, competing tasks. There must also be a comfort level when you need to seek supervisory assistance. You must be a savvy motivated self-starter as you will have P and L responsibility.

This position requires the GM to be present on most weekends but there is flexibility in scheduling based on quality of assistant(s) or key holders. Unlike normal retail this location does not have events on several holiday weekends.

The GM may be required to assist or find appropriate assistance to make accommodations for disabled individuals to ensure access to the organization's services (may include visitors, customers, employees, or others).
