General Manager Production - Waterloo Pork Plant

Job Details:
SUMMARY:

• This position is responsible to assist in controlling expenses.
• Provide for the compliance and coordination of the federal meat inspection and OSHA requirements.
• Interpret and enforce company policies.
• Assist in the determination of manpower needs and makes recommendations.
• Prepare and maintain prescribed records and reports to ensure that they reflect conditions accurately.
• Solve problems in an effective manner with sound follow up.
• Work with department heads to meet production quality yields goals and metrics goals.
• Ensure the maintenance of labor standards and quality of performance and product.
• Inspect and maintain a high degree of competence in the areas of housekeeping safety, sanitation, security, and food safety.
• Manage, evaluate, and train production supervisors.
• Oversee all designated shift operations and any other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the plant manager.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education:

• High School diploma with equivalent experience or college degree preferred.

Experience:

• 5 plus years of related industry.
• 5 plus years supervisory experience in a meat processing facility (pork or beef preferred)
• knowledge of OSHA USDA and HAACP regulations.

Computer Skills:

• Standard computer skills.

Communication Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be capable of communicating well both verbally and in writing with all levels of Team Members from hourly to upper management as well as government officials.

Special Skills:

• Leader problem solver team player.

Travel:

• 0-20

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Manage subordinate supervisors who supervise team members in the plant.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Interview hire and train people managers.
• Plan assign and direct work.
• Monitor and appraise work performance.
• Reward, coach, counsel, and discipline team members.
• Address complaints and resolve problems.
• Other Requirements:

• Display sound judgment in decision-making.
• Problem solving in an efficient manner with sound follow-up.
• Possess strong managerial skills.
• Maintain excellent safety and attendance records.
