Utopia Bagels was founded in 1981 as a neighborhood establishment in Queens, New York. During its humble beginnings the store was a local favorite serving hot bagels, pastries, and coffee to a loyal customer base. Over the past years, Utopia Bagels has become a New York City staple and a nationwide sensation, keeping the same recipes and core values that it was founded with.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager to oversee our operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in leadership, team management, and restaurant operations. As the General Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the restaurant, maintaining high standards of food safety and quality, and providing exceptional customer service, while also building a team of skilled, motivated employees.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house activities
- Manage and lead a team of employees, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations
- Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Experience with payroll and inventory softwares as well as restaurant POS system knowledge
- Perform weekly inventory and order all necessary goods for the restaurant while also staying within the COGS budget
- Effectively schedule employees to meet the daily needs of the restaurant while also staying within the payroll budget
- Collaborate with all staff to ensure all customers' needs are met
- Handle a large volume of orders and customers on a day to day basis
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional manner
- Implement and enforce company policies and procedures
- Stay updated on industry trends and make recommendations for improvements
Skills:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with staff, customers, and vendors
- Proven experience in restaurant management, including knowledge of POS systems
- Solid understanding of food safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills to address operational challenges
- Experience in catering operations is a plus
- Proficient in inventory control techniques
