Position:General Maintenance Person
Department/Campus: Reports to Campus Operations Manager as a Vendor (Vendor Packet will need to be completed and processed at the campus)
Job Type: Part-Time; 20-25 hours per week depending on Maintenance work orders
JOB GOAL
The job of General Maintenance Worker was established for the purpose/s of providing maintenance services as needed and/or assigned; assisting in a wide variety of maintenance activities; addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns; assisting skilled trades; and ensuring that tools, materials and vehicles are maintained in good working order and are available at job site when needed.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- (Preferred) High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
-(Preferred) -Maintenance Service Certificate in one or more skill areas, including Electrician, HVAC/R Plumbing and Carpenter.
-(Preferred) -One year of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment. (Major repairs are performed under the supervision of licensed maintenance workers.)
o Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts.
o Cleans and inspects boiler; treats water with proper chemicals.
o Calibrates and repairs pneumatic systems.
o Replaces broken windows; repairs doors, door locks and closets; installs window blinds.
o Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
o May operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems.
o Installs electrical wiring and equipment; new electrical services, wiring during remodeling projects; replaces and repairs wiring as needed.
o Repairs electrical equipment and control circuits; replaces faulty electrical switches; repairs refrigeration equipment.
o May repair electrical locks and control panels to maintain building security.
o May install computer cable.
o Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
o Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building structures.
o Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
o Performs outside custodial duties such as snow removal as required.
o May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
o Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures
o Ability to use hand tools (e.g., hammer, shovel, screwdriver) and power tools (e.g., radial saw, reciprocating saw, drill, pneumatic hammer)
o Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
o Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
o Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
o Excellent organizational and time management skills.
o Ability to work independently
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
o Prolonged periods standing, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing; heavy lifting and carrying; repetitive hand motions;
o Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions; outside and inside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, ladders, and scaffolding and around machinery with moving parts; move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment; exposure to hot and cold temperatures, excessive noise; frequent district-wide travel
o Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
o Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally and during emergencies required.

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
