SUMMARY:
The Commercial Building Maintenance Technician with a focus on Plumbing and General Building Maintenance at The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and of our facilities. This position requires expertise in plumbing systems, along with proficiency in General Building Maintenance tasks. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing plumbing issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and addressing General Building Maintenance needs. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our guests and staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plumbing Maintenance and Repair:
·Perform routine maintenance tasks on plumbing systems, including clearing clogged drains, repairing leaky pipes, and replacing worn-out fixtures.
·Diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing issues, such as low water pressure, sewage backups, and faulty water heaters.
·Repair or replace defective plumbing components, including faucets, toilets, sinks, and water heaters.
·Conduct inspections of plumbing systems to identify potential problems and ensure compliance with safety standards.
General Building Maintenance:
·Conduct routine inspections of the commercial building to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and code violations.
·Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as patching walls, painting, and replacing light bulbs.
·Assist with the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems, electrical wiring, and other building systems.
·Conduct preventive maintenance on building equipment and fixtures, such as lubricating machinery and adjusting controls.
Plumbing System Upgrades and Installations:
·Assist with the planning and execution of plumbing system upgrades and installations, including new fixtures, piping, and drainage systems.
·Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure timely completion of plumbing projects and adherence to safety and quality standards.
·Test newly installed plumbing systems to ensure proper functionality and address any issues or discrepancies.
Emergency Response and Troubleshooting:
·Respond promptly to emergency plumbing requests, such as burst pipes, water leaks, and sewage backups.
·Identify and prioritize urgent repair needs, taking appropriate action to minimize downtime and prevent further damage.
·Troubleshoot complex plumbing issues, utilizing diagnostic tools and technical expertise to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
Documentation and Reporting:
·Maintain accurate records of plumbing maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment logs, and inspection reports.
·Document repairs, replacements, and upgrades performed on plumbing systems, noting parts used and labor hours.
·Generate reports summarizing plumbing maintenance activities, equipment status, and recommendations for improvement.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
·Available nights and weekends, as needed by campus circumstances.
·Working knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems.
·Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations
· Experience in construction, maintenance and all facets of facility operation.
· Strong knowledge and experience in plumbing preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
·Minimum of high school or technical training in HVAC and electrical systems, Associate/Bachelor’s degree preferred.
·Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial Building Maintenance, with a focus on plumbing systems.
·Valid plumbing license or certification required.
·Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing plumbing issues, including troubleshooting complex problems and conducting preventive maintenance.
·Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards related to plumbing systems.
·Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
·Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, staff, and vendors.
·Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
· Current driver’s license required.
WORK CONDITIONS:
·This position may require working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
·The Maintenance Technician may need to lift heavy equipment and materials, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
·Occasional evening, weekend, or on-call hours may be required to address emergency maintenance needs or complete special projects.
·Comfortable working with and around the homeless population.
