General Counsel

General CounselThe General Counsel role will report to the Chief Operating Officer of Electriq Power, and will involve direct interaction with all levels of the organization. The successful candidate will work on a broad range of challenging and sophisticated legal matters and will have a high degree of responsibility. This role is NOT a remote role. The role is in the office with a hybrid schedule at our WPB, FL location.
Responsibilities:

• Responsible for corporate maintenance issues, including assistance with corporate governance, entity formation and dissolution, consents, minutes, stock ledgers, etc. on a proactive and independent basis
• Assist with SEC reporting
• Assist with a broad range of M&A/divestiture/strategic alliance matters, including due diligence and drafting of transactional documents
• Assist with legal efforts on standard contract issues, including drafting agreements, assisting with negotiations, and overseeing the maintenance and administration of contracts
• Manage broad areas of corporate risk, including litigation, arbitration, and other less formal disputes
• Assist in managing outside legal counsel; and in general, helping to manage a fast-placed in-house legal function 

Experience & Skills:

• 5-7 years of legal experience, including in-house experience in a responsible generalist position (a combination of in-house and external counsel experience preferred)
• The ability to confidently interact with all levels of the organization and to translate legal principles and make recommendations into practical business solutions
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, drafting and communication skills
• Energetic, decisive, hard-working, hands-on personality with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to gain respect and influence others
• Quick learner with a high degree of common sense and resourcefulness, and the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
• Highest levels of integrity, discretion, and maturity
• Located in West Palm Beach, FL

Education:

• Juris Doctor degree from a top accredited law school 
• Must be admitted and in good standing with at least one state bar

OUR STORY
Electriq Power’s organic growth began in a San Leandro, CA garage in late 2014. After purchasing a totaled Nissan Leaf and stripping the battery and computers for parts, the Electriq team went to work attempting to build their first home battery prototype. After four months of building, testing, rebuilding, and retesting, Electriq’s first energy storage prototype was complete. Over the next few years, the team grew, investors emerged, and Electriq’s original prototype evolved into its first consumer-ready smart home battery, the IQ System. And even though the energy storage market was still in its infancy, consumers recognized the dire need for home energy storage.

ELECTRIQ POWER TODAY
Fast forward to present day, we now occupy over 27,000 sq. ft. at our San Leandro, CA location, office and warehouse facility in Oxnard, CA and have our corporate office in downtown West Palm Beach, FL. Our home battery systems can be found in customers’ homes and small businesses all over the world. Electriq Power has even donated systems to hurricane-stricken areas like Puerto Rico and Haiti to help them become more resilient during dangerous weather conditions.
