Responsibilities
The Associate General Counsel will join a growing team of dedicated counsel. The Associate General Counsel will provide legal counsel to the system’s affiliate members, adding strategic value through collaborating with stakeholders to meet organizational goals and business objectives across a complex and dynamic organization. The Associate General Counsel will advise on a wide range of matters relating to healthcare operations, general corporate transactions, and regulatory and compliance issues. The successful candidate will have at least 8 years of experience practicing health law, advising clients in a complex health care environment as in-house counsel and/or within a law firm health law practice. Experience with analyzing and advising on federal and state healthcare regulatory and compliance matters is required, including experience with the Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, HIPAA and Medicare reimbursement issues. Experience preparing and negotiating complex contracts and other legal documents is required. Concentration in pharmacy operations/340B program compliance or labor and employment law is strongly preferred.
Qualifications
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
- JD required with a minimum of 8 years of experience practicing health law
- Solid knowledge of laws applicable to the delivery of healthcare services, as well as contract law and tax exempt organizations law
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and issue spot effectively, with rigorous attention to detail
- Experience in and comfort level with environment of rapidly changing priorities; ability to prioritize work and meet tight deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a wide variety of situations and to form productive working relationships with a diverse population of people throughout the organization
