Position Overview
- Working closely with the General Manager, providing practical legal advice to enable management to achieve business objectives while operating within legal parameters.
- Address a wide range of employment law issues, such as recruitment and hiring, performance management, discipline, termination, disability-related accommodations, leaves of absence, pay equity, and organizational restructuring.
- Advise on employee benefits matters, including incentive plans, welfare plans, retirement plans, benefits documentation, and claims.
- Provide advice on and/or draft various employee-facing policies, forms, agreements, communications, and systems.
- Advise HR and management on handling internal employee complaints and grievances.
- Actively manage outside counsel in defending litigation, labor arbitrations.
- Prepare and update form contracts for the business.
- Review contracts and agreements related to the day-to-day operation of the business.
- Oversee overall legal compliance of the business.
- Juris Doctor degree required.
- 7+ years of meaningful employment law experience advising HR and management either in a law firm or in-house role.
- Firm knowledge of federal employment laws (i.e. Title VII, Civil Rights Act, Equal Pay Act, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, WARN) is required.
- Knowledge of state employment laws in Colorado.
- Must be a current member of a state bar in good standing. If not a member of the Colorado state bar, will be required to gain admission after commencement of employment.
- Experience guiding retail and supply chain organizations.
- Knowledge of employee benefit matters desired, but not required.
