If you are a Gas Turbine Senior Controls Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you to join our Software Engineering team for Gas Turbine Solutions, located in Latham, NY or remote.
You will be a crucial member of a collaborative and team-oriented Turbine Retrofit Project Group with responsibilities for system design/implementation and test functions. Responsibilities will include providing technical leadership and innovative thinking in the development and testing of turbine control retrofit systems.
The Power & Water Solutions business focuses on upgrading existing power plant systems with industry leading automation controls and instrumentation to promote sustainability and longevity of our North American power grid.
IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
- Implement and test combustion turbine control strategies.
- Coordinate and test HMI control and supervisory interface screens.
- Perform system alarming and operator notification processes.
- Functionally test to verify that operational specifications are maintained.
- Build software development standards/practices and work instructions.
- Manage project requirements, schedule, and execution through delivery.
- Work with the engineering teams to maintain control implementation standards.
- Produce project status updates to project teams and management.
- Provide leadership and direction to other Controls Engineers within the group.
WHO YOU ARE:
You are an advanced control engineer looking to be an essential member of a team-oriented Turbine Retrofit Project Group. You deliver messages in a clear, compelling, and concise manner. You anticipate customer needs and provide services that are beyond customer expectations. You persist in the face of challenges and setbacks.
FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- 5 years of direct related experience.
- Experience with turbine control design and testing
- Technically oriented with major combustion turbine manufacturers and experience with combustion turbine control philosophies
- Knowledge of Dry Low NOx (DLN1.0/2.0/2.6) and Low Emission Combustor (LEC) control algorithms.
- Includes minimal travel - up to 10%
- Legal Authorization to work in the United States – sponsorship will not be provided for this role
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:
- Experience with Pratt&Whitney/GE/RollsRoyce aero derivative Gas Turbine generator control systems Experience with GE, Siemens, Westinghouse, and Alstom Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine Control Systems is preferred.

Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during the annual merit review process.
