New York Society of Play is a youth and family gaming services provider committed to making the most of playtime. Our goal is to teach social and emotional skills through Dungeons & Dragons, LARP, and gaming of all kinds.
We're looking for experienced childcare specialists with a passion for gaming to assist our team. Candidates will start by helping to cover shifts as needed with the possibility of being hired as full team member as our staffing needs increase. Candidates should excel at running engaging games for groups of children, all while teaching and upholding our program's social contract. Candidates will serve as moderators and mentors of the children in our program.
This is a substitute position during the 2024 spring semester with possible work into the summer and beyond!
Core Responsiblities
- Transport children from schools to "Frontier Games", and to and from local parks via walking, buses, and trains as needed.
- Maintence of "Frontier Games" space, storefront, and other utilized gaming locations.
- Learn, prepare, and run all games part of the New York Society of Play's curriculum.
- a. Roleplaying games (such as Dungeons & Dragons)
- b. Trading Card Games (such as Magic the Gathering and the Pokemon TCG)
- c. Board Games (such as Settlers of Catan)
- d. Live Action Roleplay (physical storytelling with outdoor and stage combat elements)
Requirements
1 year of childcare
1 year of organizing Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition games
1 year of retail experience (preferred)

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
