Job Summary

Gallery Hosts contribute to the hotel's commitment to high quality guest service and teamwork and must be the kind of person who appreciates high standards of excellence. The Gallery Host creates an experience for our hotel guests by offering them a larger than home experience with welcoming, helpful and exceptional service, while maintaining a clean, comfortable and inviting environment. This position is responsible for the complete guest experience; to include the Front Desk, Bakery Café, Guest Kitchen, hotel shuttle van (not currently in use), and the servicing of meeting room. Previous hospitality experience as well as the ability to communicate well with guests is highly desirable.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Guest registration, including greeting and assisting arrivals following established protocols
• Obtaining method of payment from guest and issuing room keys
• Responsibility for cash drawer
• Willingness to prepare light meals, serve beer/wine, and prepare espresso coffee drinks (lattes, cappuccinos, Americanos, etc.)
• Must have schedule flexibility for both AM/PM shifts, weekends and holidays

Qualifications and Skills

• Requires strong command of the English language to include speaking, reading and writing
• Ability to learn quickly and work in fast paced position with guest interaction
• Must be 21 years or older
• Must hold a valid California driver's license
• Must possess California Food Handler card within first 30 days of employment (on-line course paid by employer)
• A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to lift, pull, and push moderate weight (minimum of 20 lbs.)
• Must possess basic computer skills , i.e. Word, Outlook e-mail, etc.
• Hospitality experience is highly desirable, preferably in a hotel or related field. Applicants with Opera background will be given highest priority over all job seekers.

Full-time associates are eligible to start accruing PTO (paid time off) after 90 days of employment. Hyatt Place provides for two weeks PTO per year. Sick leave allowance is three (3) days per year, which new hires begin accruing on the first date of employment.
