Gallery Assistant

Craighead Green Gallery is a renowned, respected gallery, not only in the State of Texas but also nationally. The Gallery represents over fifty, mid- career artists, working in a myriad of mediums and styles. The Gallery focuses on contemporary paintings, archival pigment prints and sculpture. Both Kenneth Craighead and Steve Green continue their ongoing recognition and support of local emerging artists each year, with the presentation of the much anticipated, New Texas Talent Exhibition. Craighead and Green also award an annual scholarship to graduating seniors from Booker T. Washington, Dallas Arts Magnet High School in conjunction with the Edith Baker Scholarship Fund. The Gallery is a long time participating member of the Dallas Art Dealers Association and is a founding member of CADD, Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas.

Responsibilities

• Customer Service: Interact with visitors, provide information about current exhibitions, artists, and gallery policies.
• Sales Support: Assist with sales transactions, including processing payments, packaging artwork, and arranging delivery or shipment.
• Gallery Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of gallery spaces.
• Artwork Handling: Install, handle, and care for artwork during and before exhibitions, including hanging, and lighting adjustments.
• Inventory Management: Maintain inventory, including tracking artwork movements, updating database, and organizing storage areas.
• Event Coordination: Support gallery events, openings, receptions by helping set up, greeting guests, and facilitating smooth operations.
• Administrative Tasks: Assist with general office duties such as answering phones, responding emails, and managing schedules.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience required
• Customer Service Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with visitors, and artists.
• Artistic Knowledge: Strong interest in and knowledge of contemporary art, artists, and art movement.
• Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
• Flexibility: Adaptability and willingness to assist with a variety of tasks as needed, including occasional evening or weekend work for events.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
