Summer School - Administrator
Position Summary:
Each school site administrator will be responsible for acting as a district liaison for the Teach for America staff in their building as they implement the Summer School. The site administrator will work closely with the person in the instructional leader role within Teach for America's staff. Through collaboration, these two individuals will extensively plan and prepare during the spring for the four weeks of summer instruction.
Essential Duties:
  • Works with TFA staff to ensure that student enrollment and rosters are correct.
  • Ensures student transportation, emergency procedures and school security procedures are in place.
  • Accountable for daily attendance procedures (absence calls and record keeping), student check-out, check-in and other student procedures (i.e. breakfast, lunch, morning arrival, afternoon dismissal, etc.).
  • Oversees logistics, OKCPS staff, grade scale policies, duty schedules and coverage, resource distribution and collection, parent communication policies and student discipline in accordance with District policies.
  • May assist TFA instructional leader in the areas of curriculum.
  • Oversees and observes master teachers in their support of TFA Corps Member/s.
  • Observes professional development offered by Teach for America staff.
  • Manages all required paperwork for submission to federal programs for stipend pay.
  • Monitors master teacher attendance
  • Oversees and observes master teachers in their support of Corps Member/s
  • Acts as Site Emergency Manager, ensuring that all district emergency policies and procedures are followed.
  • All other duties deemed necessary to run an efficient summer program.

Job Specifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):
  • Currently employed by Oklahoma City Public Schools
  • Attend four (4) conference calls/meeting during the spring with district staff. Each conference call/meeting will last one hour. The exact dates for these calls will be finalized in April and will occur bi-monthly beginning in April. These will focus on answering questions you may have as you begin your summer preparations, as well as specific logistics to think about (i.e. transportation, breakfast, lunch, etc.)
  • Keyboard, E-mail, Spreadsheets, Word Processing, Multimedia, Internet, Database
  • Attend 20 hours of pre-training conducted by Teach for America staff members prior to actual start date of class
  • Commit to the entire Summer School period
  • Outstanding communication and facilitation skills
  • Interpersonal skills to share proven instructional approaches with teachers and administrators
