Fleet Mechanic
Description
Total Property Management is looking for a part-time mechanic to manage our small fleet of equipment. We are looking for someone with experience in the repair and operations of auto vehicles, small engines, and diesel engines. We hope that you, as an applicant, will be able to grow with the company and assist in the development of a maintenance and fleet management program.
Small Engine Mechanics are responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and making required repairs on all lawn care related equipment. Including but not limited to: Mowers, Weed eaters, Backpack blowers, Edgers, Gas powered pruning shears, Tillers, and Chainsaws.
- Oversee the maintenance & repair program of a fleet of specialized tractors, automotive vehicles, landscaping vehicles, diesel engines, collection trailers & other related equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance (lube, oil change, replace belts, hoses, inspect brakes, repack bearings, check tires, etc., on all size vehicles.
- Diagnose and effectively repair mechanical, engine and electrical irregularities/malfunctions on all size vehicles.
- Schedule and complete all factory recommended routine equipment maintenance
- Maintain shop inventory of fluids, parts, supplies, and necessary tools.
- Proficient in the operation of heavy machinery (Back - hoe, end-loader, skid-steer, bobcat, fork-lift, pulling hitched trailer)
- Ensure thorough and complete records are kept of repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Basic working knowledge of and ability to make light repairs on trailers, tractors, and automotive fleet
- Ability to work in a "team" environment, which may involve "non mechanic" tasks including but not limited to: delivering landscape supplies to job sites, transportation of lawn care equipment, and routine watering of plant material
Experience
- Small Engine Repair, Diesel Engine Repair: 4 year (Preferred) - certified recommended, but not required.
- Prior mechanic experience working on major brand 2 cycle and 4 cycle Lawn Care engines and equipment is preferred
- Other relevant experience - including maintenance mechanic or automotive technician experience is accepted
- Expected to work with all crew members, leaders, management, and customers in a courteous and professional manner

Qualifications
Valid State Issued Drivers License (Required)
Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license for the state in which you are applying
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
At least 4 years of repair technician experience, certification/degree preferred, but not required
Ability to use a computer for parts inquiries and ordering
Working mechanical knowledge, including the use of tools and test equipment
Ability to perform accurate repair of equipment
Ability to select and safely use basic tools or instruments to assemble, adjust, calibrate, repair, or test various products; including knowledge of basic electrical principles
Ability to follow directions and specific process steps to ensure quality workmanship
Flexibility to work variable and flexible hours, including overtime
Must complete all technician training elements within required timeframes
Must be at least 18 years of age
Ability to occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
