Required Education
- Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (PharmD)
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education

Specific Responsibilities of the Staff Pharmacist Include:
- Maintains a professional and friendly manner with all customers when responding to their requests
- Accepts the written prescription or refill information from patients, confirms completeness of patient record and requests missing information as appropriate, and retrieves the patient’s pharmacy record(s) for verification.
- Accesses the pharmacy system to obtain complete patient record (on both cash and third party prescriptions) and verifies third party parameters.
- Resolves any customer problems and concerns and when necessary refer them to supervisory staff.
- Takes all steps required to fill, dispense, check, and counsel on prescriptions in compliance with all laws, regulations, and 986 Pharmacy policies and procedures regarding the sale of pharmaceuticals including: retrieves the product(s); counts, pours, or measures out the required quantity according to established 986 Pharmacy methods and procedures; and affixes the label permanently to the container.
- Provide vaccinations and medication therapy management services to patients.
- Counsel patients and answer inquiries regarding over-the-counter medications.
- Retrieve phone prescription orders from physicians’ offices and follow up with medical personnel regarding medication non-coverage or therapy concerns such as drug-drug interactions or duplicate therapies.
- Make appropriate evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy recommendations to a medical provider when necessary.
- Make appropriate requests for laboratory data to assess the proper dosing of certain medications.
- Upon final verification, review the patient’s medication profile to identify any therapy duplications or drug interactions.
- Assists Pharmacy Manager in coordinating and prioritizing workflow functions and workstations for adequate pharmacy coverage.
- Maintains inventory control procedures; assists with physical inventory; assists in pharmacy returns; regularly check pharmacy stock for recalled, expired and overstocked products; anticipating needed medications and supplies; check in daily controlled medication orders to verify the correct items have been received.
Other Responsibilities of the Staff Pharmacist Include:
- Processes payments, ring up sale purchases by accurately counting out appropriate change to the patient using the Pharmacy POS system, and records prices for items purchased by entering amount and type of payment in accordance with established 986 Pharmacy policies and procedures.
- Accurately check patient’s birthday and name, packages medications, and print out signature delivery logs for deliveries.
- Performs other necessary duties as assigned by pharmacist-in-charge
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Salary: $63.74 - $66.11 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
