The Mailroom Support specialist is a key role to ensure that we meet our contractual turnaround time for claims, authorizations and appeals as well as the hub for all other incoming mail. To ensure success, the Mailroom Support Specialist will sort and batch incoming mail following detailed instructions. In addition to sorting and batching paper mail, there may be other clinical documentation received that also requires special handling. A successful Mailroom Support Specialist will be able to quickly learn how to utilize technical equipment such as scanners and be agile in addressing changing tasks and priorities. The work of the Mailroom Support Specialist is accomplished by using Avesis' application systems and online reference tools. The Mailroom Support Specialist's productive output is guided by performance objectives for the position that specify the volume of documents to be processed on an hourly basis and required accuracy and quality performance standards.
This position will be required to report in person each working day to the Avesis offices located at:

Essential Job Functions:
  • Efficiently opening, sorting, batching, and cataloging a high volume of mail according to specified procedures and Inventory Control processes.
  • Accurately scanning x-ray radiographs and paper x-ray copies into appropriate systems utilizing specialized equipment.
  • Scanning Claims and Prior Authorizations along with various clinical documents, ensuring that the integrity of the documents for individual files are retained as an intact unit.
  • Processing small and large print-job requests from Internal Avesis Departments within specified turnaround times.
  • Processing items that are received through the One Stop Request, Reversal Fax and Scan Fax processes which requiring printing and batching of claims and prior authorizations received from Internal Departments.
  • Sort and document returned mail, to include checks, as required.
  • Work collaboratively with leadership and team members to ensure all tasks are completed.
  • Maintain consistent accuracy and quality performance standards for documents processed by Avesis/Premier.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent required
  • 6+ months of prior experience in mailroom operations environment preferred
  • 6+ months of prior experience in claims billing preferred
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite applications and other windows-based software applications

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
Hourly Range: $13.85 - 17.00
