We are currently looking to add a Frozen Warehouse 1. The right candidate will be open to learning new tasks and developing new skills.

This position will be responsible for correctly and efficiently picking orders and loading and unloading goods from delivery trucks. This position maintains Gifford’s product inventory accurately and efficiency.

The Palletizing position will be responsible to help keep the Gifford’s product at a high standard of quality everyday. To keep accurate counts of product in inventory as needed.
To palletize product neatly and minimize product damages. To recognize problems in the palletizing room and maintain a neat, clean work area by adhering to Food Safety Standards.

Responsibilities:

• Unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, and recording received quantities and lot codes correctly
• Records shipment data
• Sort and store goods received
• Read and pick customer orders and prepare them for shipment utilizing a pallet jack reach truck or fork lift
• Stack, store, and label finished product from production
• Maintain finished product in the freezer for accurate inventory location and count
• Palletize finished product as needed and inform supervisor of equipment malfunctions that need to be addressed.
• Observe packages moving along conveyors to identify packages, detect defective packaging, and perform quality control.
• Read production and delivery schedules, and confer with supervisors, to determine sorting and transfer procedures, arrangement of packages on pallets, and destinations of loaded pallets.
• Record numbers of units handled or moved using daily production sheets.
• Re-pack damaged containers.
• Help get ingredients or containers for production as needed.
• Help take care of candies, containers, etc. during rinse outs or shutdowns.
• Cut cardboard for palletizing purposes.
• Sweep and clean palletizing area as needed and remove and take care of rubbish as needed.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations preferred
• Familiarity with order picking, packing, and stock management processes
• Ability to operate pallet jacks, reach trucks, and other warehouse equipment
• Basic math skills for counting, sorting, and verifying inventory
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in order fulfillment
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment
• Excellent organizational and time management skills

The ideal candidate will:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience in Shipping/Receiving/Warehouse preferred
• Experience driving a forklift, reach truck, and using a pallet jack preferred
• Able to communicate and comprehend
• Basic mathematical skills
• Able to multitask and manage own time

Work Environment:

• Job is performed in a freezer—will be required to withstand time inside of a freezer to -20 Fahrenheit
• Fluorescent lighting used in doors
• Work load is fast paced
• Non-slip shoes required
• The position uses standard warehouse equipment such as hand jacks, box cutters, tape dispensers, and markers.

• Able to push and pull a full pallet of ice cream using a pallet jack
• Able to withstand extreme temperature changes
• Able to write and record items on paper
• Able to work around moving machinery and equipment while staying safe
