Job Description
The Front Desk Representative, under general supervision, works to ensure patients have a positive first impression of the organization by ensure the check in process is completed effectively and efficiently.
Essential Skills and Functions
- Receive and direct phone calls, patients, and other visitors. Respond to routine inquiries concerning practice services, hours of operations, and general questions regarding the practice.
- Assist with patient registration duties by collecting and verifying insurance cards and photocopying/scanning appropriate documentation. Verify patient identity and demographics and enter changes into practice management system. Direct patient to appropriate waiting area.
- Schedule, confirm, and verify patient appointments. Arrange follow-up visits and referral appointments.
- Verify patient insurance information by contacting/calling the appropriate insurance carrier and/or utilizing automated insurance verification system.
- Receive, sort, and distribute mail to the appropriate department
- Scan patient documents including insurance information into the EMR system.
- De-escalate situations involving dissatisfied customers, offering patient assistance and support.
- Provide clerical support to other departments.
- Collaborate and work as a team with other departments.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills
2+ years' experience in customer service or healthcare facility preferred
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Office environment
Standing, waling and/or moving up to 8 hours per day
Lifting up to 25 pounds
