Summary/Objective
As Front-Of-House, you will act as the face of the cafe and be the main point of contact for guests. You will inspect the cafe service stations for neatness and cleanliness, maintain a safe and sanitary environment, and restock food and condiment stations. You will also be expected to answer food inquiries with knowledge of dietary restrictions and allergens, and be prepared to make personalized recommendations to promote menus and concepts.
Essential Functions
  • Stock and restock utensils, plates, glasses in the service area
  • Restock food and condiment stations while avoiding contamination
  • Fill out temperature, sanitation, and guest record logs correctly and accurately in an organized and timely manner
  • Ensure that all food is properly labeled and in compliance with our allergen, menu, and labeling guidelines
  • Inspect dining room service stations for neatness/cleanliness and maintain throughout service
  • Restock food and condiment stations while avoiding contamination
  • Prepare beverages and maintain the drink service area (i.e., coffee, juices, sodas, cut a variety of fruits and herbs for spa water, etc.)
  • Be proactive in the food card and menu process and check every sign for inaccuracies before each service
  • Monitor guests throughout the service area, and act as a greeter with, engaging, welcoming and friendly demeanor
  • Accommodate special needs of guests
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in Cafe/Concept
  • Follow safety and sanitation procedures with all guidelines from OSHA, Department of Public Health and Risk Management
  • Take inventory of prepared items after service and report any items needed to BOH for following service day
  • Follow checklists and rotas as instructed by the FOH Manager
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and check daily if there are ongoing issues, including equipment, cleanliness etc, and report to FOH Manager or Cafe/Concept Chef
  • Follow proper rotation and storage of goods to prevent contamination and help ensure that food quality and wholesomeness are maintained
  • Be equipped to answer questions with knowledge of dietary restrictions and allergens as well as prepared to make personalized recommendations to promote menus and concepts
  • Gather guest feedback both verbally and visually – pay attention to your guests, monitor the difficulties they may experience as they flow through the service area, and practice “table-touching”
  • Find ways to improve the guest experience and daily FOH operations and communicate any findings to your FOH Manager
  • Interact with guests in a friendly, welcoming manner
  • Availability to work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings

Requirements
  • Must have and maintain an active ANSI-certified California Food Handler’s Certificate
  • Neatly groomed and dressed in clean uniforms and appropriate PPE

Physical Demands
  • Some heavy lifting (may lift 10-50 lbs.) and possible moving of equipment required
  • Repetitive hand motion carrying food containers, using carts both loaded and unloaded
  • Standing, walking, bending/twisting, and balance are all required to perform job task
    • Must be able to stand a minimum of 8 hours a day
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
