Front-End Development Engineer

ABSC is seeking a Front-End Development Engineer (UI/UX) to join a dynamic team to develop high-quality web applications using a state-of-the-art technology stack supporting the DIA-NMEC DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P). Under this multi-Task Order 10-year contract, we support the DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P) Modernization program, as well as NMEC’s mission to centralize and standardize Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation and Dissemination (TCPED) of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) across the DoD and IC enterprise. This role requires a Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI and CI Polygraph. While most work is conducted on-site at our client location in Bethesda, MD, we offer a flexible schedule and, occasionally, some tasks may be performed remotely. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Work closely with end users, analysts, software and data engineers, and data scientists on the following key tasks:
  • Coding, testing, and debugging new and/or existing web applications.
  • Implementing and refining user interfaces.
  • Conducting thorough unit testing via automated tooling.
  • Collaborating with other team members (internal and external) to ensure optimal performance and usability.
  • Peer reviewing code written by fellow team members.
  • Utilizing virtualization technologies like Docker and ContainerD.

Experience and education required for this role:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline, plus 4 - 8 years relevant experience.
• Experience with modern front-end libraries such as ReactJS, with a minimum of 2 years professional experience.
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Solid understanding of HTTP web requests for fetching JSON data.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to write well-documented code.

Desired experience for this role:

• A genuine passion for creating great user experiences.
• Experience with writing frontend unit tests.
• Experience with writing backend web API services.
• Experience coding in other languages such as Python.
• Familiarity with NoSQL datastores such as Elasticsearch.
• Familiarity with performance optimization techniques.
• Up to date with emerging front-end technologies.
