Description:
Under the direction of the Associate Museum Director this position is a team member who greets and engages our visitors to ensure a positive experience through excellent customer service. The Part-time Front Desk Associate assists in a broad range of duties supporting the SMA, and provides initial professional impression, administrative support and retail operations. Approximately 15-20 hours per week, some weekends and evenings required.
Duties:
Perform exceptional customer service; greet, direct and actively assist visitors
Perform cashier duties at Front Desk for Museum store and Memberships
Interpret SMA policies and procedures for visitors
Route calls to correct departments/individuals
Manage visitor tracking and generate reports
Understand and adhere to SMA policies; including emergency protocol and ADA requirements
Advocate for SMA Membership Program, including online enrollment
Manage video surveillance security system
Assist with Special Events
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School diploma, with demonstrated customer service and sales experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Advanced customer service skills including professionalism in assisting visitors with questions utilizing SMA online database and website
Knowledge and understanding of SMA organization, mission, objectives, policies and procedures
Possess excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written)
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Proficient in social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Flickr
Highly motivated and detail oriented
Ability to work some evenings and weekends
Previous experience in an office/reception/retail environment
Proficiency with phone systems
Physical Demands:
This job requires sitting at a desk in front of a computer screen and using a keyboard for data entry. The ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time is required, as well as some lifting, with the employee able to lift up to 30lbs.
