Field Trip Facilitator: $9.00 - $13.00/ hr DOE
Hours: Part-time/ Tuesday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:15 pm/ Non- exempt
Supervisor: Guest Experience Director
Location: Children's Museum of Acadiana, 201 East Congress St., Downtown Lafayette, Louisiana 70501
The Front Desk and Retail Supervisor will collaborate with the Guest Experience Director and act as a resource for all floor staff, volunteers, and visitors. They also manage the Gift Shop, including but not limited to purchasing new items, performing a monthly inventory, and the general appearance and organization of the Gift Shop. In addition, this position carries out cash-handling policies; acts as a day-of liaison for facility rental clients and vendors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Greeting visitors; creating a welcoming start to the visitor's experience in the museum
● Processing all transactions (cash, credit cards, checks)
● Opening and closing the registers, balancing bank deposits, preparing change orders, and daily register sales reports for the Business Manager.
● Answering questions about Museum membership, birthdays, and admission
● Communicating with all frontline staff and serving as the central hub of information
● Restocking, merchandizing, processing inventory, and light cleaning in the Museum Store.
● Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
● Advanced communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to stay composed in stressful and complex situations.
● Museum or nonprofit experience desired
● Cash Handling Experience
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other standard office software, systems, and collaboration tools.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Ability to think strategically and creatively, but also pragmatically and with careful attention to detail.
● Ability and willingness to take initiative, problem-solve, and do what it takes to get the job done.
● Great interpersonal skills and ability to represent the organization and work collaboratively with diverse staff, Board, volunteers, vendors, and the public.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
● Sitting or standing for extended periods
● Lifting objects up to 25 pounds with or without assistance
● Noise level is generally moderate
● Indoor and outdoors in varying temperatures
