Responsibilities
The packaging General Laborer will develop a working knowledge of production schedules, learn to read and follow Birds Eye schedule instructions. They also are responsible to:
- Form and assemble cases to meet production requirements/specifications
- Monitor auto filled bags or trays for required fill weight, all seals are properly made, label placement, date code and label accuracy to requirements/specifications.
- Select acceptable bags /units for hand casing accurately for case count, orientations and placement
- Discard unacceptable bags /units to be reworked
- Reports deviations from the product requirements to the operators or supervisors
- Ensures that cases enter the case sealer correctly
- Visually inspects products and ingredients from blemishes or other flaws, extraneous vegetable materials or discolored units
- Stops production to report any serious deviation from requirements/specification, or malfunction of line equipment
- Maintains area housekeeping
- Assist operators with startup process, change over and shut down of production
- Any other duties assigned by management
Qualifications
The position is located in a food process and packaging facility. Conditions include working in 40 degree environment, lifting 50 pounds on a regular basis, standing and sitting for up to 12 hours. Employees also work with chemicals and clean/sanitize lines. Personal protective equipment including bump cap, safety glasses, ear plugs, steel toe shoes, and hair nets must be worn. Job involves working on a team and must be able to work well with others.
High School diploma required. 1-3 years previous manufacturing experience preferred. Effective communication skills, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and attention to detail required.
