Freight Forwarder - Projects

The Freight Forwarder will be responsible for coordinating import and export shipments for one or more customer accounts. You will serve as the main point of contact for customers, internal teams, and third-party service providers involved in the movement of our customers' goods. Your primary goal is to ensure operational excellence, high productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities
-    Provide prompt and proactive customer service while effectively communicating and coordinating with internal departments and third parties to meet customer needs.
-    Handle a range of simple and complex freight forwarding services, adhering to government regulations and company policies.
-    Manage tasks such as shipment/order management, obtaining service quotations, scheduling ocean and air bookings, coordinating customs brokerage, and ensuring timely cargo transfers (pick up, delivery, etc.).
-    Prepare, assemble, and process shipment documentation and billing using our designated systems, securing any necessary shipment release.
-    Monitor and maintain control over services to meet company standards for accuracy and productivity, measured by Key Performance Indicators.
-    Identify any additional tasks or transactions required to fulfill customer requirements.
-    Stay informed about regulations and laws related to international cargo transport.
-    Cross-train on other customer accounts and assist in the training of new or transferred employees.
-    Performs other related duties as assigned

Skills & Competencies
-    Thorough understanding of the principles and methods for transporting goods by air, sea, train, or land.
-    Familiarity with clerical requirements, policies, and processes in the freight transport industry.
-    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-    Effective problem-solving abilities necessary for shipment planning.
-    Proficiency in basic mathematics.
-    Skilled in quoting and billing.
-    Ability to identify process improvements and convey suggestions to management.
-    Capability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
-    Excellent organizational skills.

Educational background / Work experience
-    Experience in the freight forwarding industry
-    Experience handling cruise shipments is preferred
-    Industry-related certifications are a valuable addition.
-    Have project management or other leadership experience
 

Language skills
    Fluent English
    Other Languages are a plus

Computer Literacy
    Proficient in MS Office Suite
    CargoWise and SAP knowledge a plus

    Industry related applications knowledge
    Ability to learn new applications quickly

Physical and/or Mental Requirements / Working Conditions
    Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time.  The working environment is generally favorable.  Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.  Work is generally performed within an office environment with standard office equipment available.

DSV Air & Sea Inc. employees are hired for an undefined period of time as "at will" employees. For this position, the expected base pay is: $15.00 - $30.00 / Hourly.  Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
