Freelance Journalist

Job Summary:
Connect Del Rio is seeking a skilled and passionate Journalist to join our team. As a Journalist, you will be responsible for researching, writing, and reporting on various news topics in Del Rio, TX. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of platforms, online and social media, print a possibility in the future. We are passionate about serving the community with quality.

Duties:
- Conduct thorough research on assigned topics or topics you find yourself
- Interview sources and gather information
- Write clear, concise, and engaging news articles
- Edit and proofread articles for accuracy and style
- Fact-check information before publication
- Stay up-to-date with current events and trends

- Connect with multiple local elected officials, leaders, business owners, or high-profile individuals
- Utilize social media platforms to promote articles and engage with readers
- Adhere to ethical standards and journalistic principles

Experience:
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Proficiency in proofreading and copy editing
- Basic knowledge of video production techniques is a plus
- Bilingual proficiency is an asset
- Familiarity with copywriting principles
- Experience in social media management is preferred

- The ability to take decent photos with your iPhone or Android is a MUST
