We're looking for a freelance Front End Developer to join us for on-going project based work. They have a commitment to accessible and inclusive products, and love balancing performance, ease of use, and beauty in what they build. Our work spans a wide spectrum: concept prototypes, front end style guides/design systems, CMS-driven websites, and interactive applications for spatial and experiential projects in physical space.
Our ideal candidate is curious, capable, open-minded, and a generous teammate. Our team is made up of a diverse group of folks who took different paths to the roles they hold today. If your experience doesn’t quite match what we’ve described, please apply anyway!

- Lead front-end implementation on a project, potentially assisted by other developers
- Explore emerging technologies/industry trends that improve product development and end-user experience; share and apply knowledge to projects.
- Contribute to internal library of best practices (code samples and documentation)
- Collaborate with designers, producers, content devs, and other devs to deliver a best-in-class product and user experience. Proactively seek and incorporate feedback from teammates and clients.
Must Haves:
- Experience working with Drupal 8 and higher
- Understanding of Drupal’s theming approach (template files, preprocessor hooks)
- Strong HTML markup skills w/ a focus on accessibility: semantic markup, ARIA
- CSS: experience with a CSS methodology/approach (for ex.: BEM, SMACSS, CUBE, ITCSS)
- CSS: experience with modern layout: CSS Grid/Flexbox and when/how to use both
- Motion/animation at both a macro (animating multiple large components) and micro (rollovers) level
Nice to Haves:
- Experience directing other developers on a project
- FE style guides (for ex.: Storybook, Fractal)
- FE preprocessors/bundlers for CSS and JavaScript (for ex.: PostCSS, Rollup, Babel)
